TEHRAN – The Iranian Judiciary has conducted a second court hearing regarding complaints from the families of those martyred while fighting U.S.-backed Takfiri terrorist groups in Iraq and Syria, known as Defenders of the Holy Shrine.

The hearing took place on Sunday at Branch 55 of the Special Legal Court for International Affairs in Tehran. The case is against the U.S. government and its support for terrorist organizations in the West Asia region.

Presiding Judge Majid Hosseinzadeh listened to complaints from the families of the Holy Shrine Defenders, who are seeking compensation for the material, moral, and punitive damages caused by terrorist acts linked to the U.S. administration and its military commanders, specifically for their role in establishing groups like Daesh, al-Nusra Front, and Jaish al-Zulm.

Hosseinzadeh noted that the session was convened following a lawsuit by 725 Iranian nationals with 59 files against 18 defendants, including the US government.

One family member of the plaintiffs stated, “Since the inception of the evil entity Daesh, the U.S. administration has used terrorist groups globally as a tool.” She added, “The American government has supported and continues to support these terrorist groups at various levels by waging a proxy war against Iran, threatening its borders and territorial integrity, and attempting to destroy the Islamic establishment.”

Highlighting the evident relationship between the U.S. and terrorists despite Washington’s claims of fighting terrorism, she said, “The U.S. does not aim to eliminate terrorists; rather, it seeks to train and organize foreign nationals in military bases, particularly in Iraq and Syria, deploying them as terrorist groups to serve its illegitimate goals.”

She also asserted that no compensation can equate to the blood of their loved ones or make up for their absence in the hearts and minds of their families.

The first court hearing was held in November last year, involving around 646 claimants from 15 Iranian provinces.

Since March 2011, Syria has been ravaged by a campaign of militancy and destruction sponsored by the U.S. and its allies. In recent years, Syrian government forces have managed to reclaim almost all regions from terrorist groups.
