TEHRAN- The ex-presidential election candidate and former head of Iran's Inspectorate Organization has been announced as the first pick for the Ministry of Interior in the fourteenth government.

After the recent presidential election and the victory of Masoud Pezeshkian, Mustafa Pour Mohammadi has been speculated in political circles and social media as a pick for several posts in the fourteenth government, including the Minister of Intelligence, secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, and Minister of Interior.

According to Tasnim News, Pour Mohammadi has a great chance assuming the position of Minister of Interior, while the probability of the former presidential hopeful being appointed as the Minister of Intelligence and the Supreme National Security Council was lower.

Pour Mohammadi was introduced to the Parliament by then-President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on August 14, 2005, for the Ministry of Interior. However, he was dismissed from this position in April 2008 due to his opposition to the policies of the ninth government.

He also served as the head of Iran's Inspectorate Organization from 2008 to 2013 and as the Minister of Justice in the eleventh government from 2013 to 2017.

Pour Mohammadi is currently the secretary of the Combatant Clergy Association.
