TEHRAN - The board of representatives of the Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (ICCIMA) held their 14th meeting in the new tenure on Sunday during which the priorities of the Iranian economy and the challenges in the way of achieving economic goals were discussed.

As reported by the ICCIMA portal, in the meeting, which was chaired by ICCIMA's Head Samad Hassanzadeh, four board members including the chairman delivered speeches and touched upon some of the important economic issues in recent months.

Speaking at the gathering, Hassanzadeh emphasized the importance of constructive interaction between the private sector and the government, and expressed hope that the cabinet of the 14th government will consider the private sector as a partner in the country's development path.

“We hope that conditions will be created so that a private sector cabinet will be formed along with the government’s cabinet and these two, together by holding regular meetings, examine the vital issues of the economy,” Hassanzadeh said.

Considering the state of the country's economy, the cabinet of the 14th government should be coherent, efficient and formed based on meritocracy in order to create a foundation for the realization of the country's development goals, the official stressed.

Referring to a recent meeting between the president-elect and representatives of the private sector at the place of the ICCIMA, he said: “This was the first time that the private sector met the president-elect before the start of the government's work, and on this occasion, economic operators raised their troubles and problems.”

Elsewhere in his remarks, Hassanzadeh said the Iran Chamber will try to hold consensus meetings once or twice a year after the new government takes office, so that constructive interaction between the government and the private sector is formed more than in the past.

“Fortunately, today, all government departments have come to the conclusion that if a problem arises in international relations and affects people's lives, it can only be solved by the private sector,” he noted.

He further underlined the significant role of the government and private sector dialogue council and said: “One of the important requests of the ICCIMA from the new government is to give importance to the role of the dialogue council between the government and the private sector. This valuable institution can play an important role in solving the problems of economic operators, and we also request the president to hold these meetings regularly.”
