Over 200,000 children showing 'symptoms of malnutrition' in Gaza
The director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in Beit Lahia, northern Gaza Strip, said there are more than 200 Palestinian children currently at risk of death due to malnutrition.
Speaking to Al-Arabi TV, Dr Hossam Abo Safiya added that over 200,000 Palestinian children have shown symptoms of malnutrition.
He said Gaza is now facing a "humanitarian disaster".
"There are no food items available in the northern Gaza Strip other than flour. I am sending a distress call to all international institutions to take the threat of famine seriously." Abo Safiya noted.
On Friday, a teenage Palestinian boy died due to malnutrition. He fell victim to Israel’s starvation policy in the Gaza Strip.
Local media identified the teen as Mustafa Hijazi
The child lost his life at the al-Aqsa Martyrs hospital in the central Gazan city of Deir al-Balah.
Since Israel declared war on Gaza in early October, more than 30 Palestinians, including 28 children under the age of five have died of malnutrition, according to the World Health Organization.
