TEHRAN – In a recent statement, the spokesman for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlighted the urgent need for global action against the ongoing war crimes committed by the Zionist regime against Palestinians.

Nasser Kanaani suggested that boycotting Israeli goods and companies is an easy yet highly effective form of protest.

He emphasized that the inaction of international governments and the United Nations Security Council has exacerbated the situation, thereby increasing the responsibility of nations and non-governmental organizations to support the oppressed Palestinian people. 

Kanaani shared his concerns in a note posted on his official social media account on Saturday. He pointed out that it has been 245 days since the Zionist regime began its relentless and deadly attacks on the besieged residents of the Gaza Strip, resulting in the ongoing and painful killing of women and children.

Kanaani elaborated on the severity of the situation, stating, "The most heinous international crimes, including war crimes, crimes against humanity, and acts of genocide, have been perpetrated through the widespread killing of civilians, women, and children."

In his post, the spokesman reiterated the urgency of the situation, criticizing the international community's failure to act. He stated, "Due to the inaction of governments and the United Nations Security Council in stopping the war crimes of the Zionist regime against Palestinians, the responsibility of nations and non-governmental organizations to support the oppressed Palestinian people increases. Boycotting Zionist goods and companies is the easiest, yet very effective action."

Kanaani's statement calls for immediate and tangible actions from the global community to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and support the Palestinian cause.

Palestinian sources reported that at least 15 people were killed in Israeli bombings targeting central Gaza early on Friday. 

On Thursday, an Israeli military strike on a UNRWA school in the Nuseirat refugee camp killed at least 40 Palestinians and injured dozens more. The UN stated that 6,000 displaced people were sheltering in the building at the time of the attack.

"This is state terrorism," said Naiem Khalil, a displaced Palestinian. "Israel is targeting UN institutions, violating international laws, and crossing all red lines. For 76 years, Palestinians have appealed to the world without response. UN resolutions are enforced everywhere except against Israel. This is hypocrisy."

The UN’s human right office has said that the Israeli military’s failure to ensure “distinction, proportionality and precaution” in its attacks that have killed Palestinian civilians would amount to violations of international humanitarian law.

Israel launched the current offensive against Gaza, targeting hospitals, homes, and places of worship, following a surprise attack by Palestinian Resistance movements, named Operation Al-Aqsa Storm, on October 7.

Simultaneously, the regime has imposed a nearly complete blockade on the coastal enclave, severely limiting the supply of essential goods such as food, medicine, electricity, and water to Palestinians.

The conflict has resulted in at least 36,654 Palestinian deaths, most of them women and children, with another 83,309 injured. Over 1.7 million people have been internally displaced during the war.
