TEHRAN-In the wake of the passing of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and a number of local officials, filmmakers from various countries expressed their condolences to the Iranian representatives at Iran’s booth at Cannes Film Market during the ongoing Cannes Film Festival. 

The presence of these filmmakers demonstrated solidarity with the Iranian people and their fellow filmmakers, ILNA reported.

Representatives and cinema professionals from Germany, England, India, Scotland, Armenia, Palestine, Indonesia, Algeria, Kazakhstan, Norway, Bangladesh, Bulgaria, Pakistan, the U.S., and France were among those who visited Iran’s booth. They signed a memorial book in honor of the late President, paying their respects and offering condolences.

President Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian along with some other officials passed away in a tragic helicopter crash in the northwest of the country on Sunday.

As a tribute to the late President and his companions, Iranian cinema representatives at the Cannes Film Market organized a memorial event, displaying images of the deceased officials at the Iran booth.

The Cannes Film Market hosts over 300 exhibiting companies represented across 200 booths each year. Participants can explore two levels filled with a diversity of booths — each with its own distinct shape and size and meticulously decorated to showcase the latest film lineups.

The 77th Cannes Film Festival, which began on May 14, will conclude on May 25.
