Collecting associated gases to reach 40 mcm/d

TEHRAN - Since the 13th administration took office in August 2021, approximately 25 million cubic meters of associated gases have been collected, and the figure will reach 40 million cubic meters per day at the end of the current Iranian calendar year 1403 (20 March 2025).

According to the Iranian Deputy Oil Minister for Planning Hoshang Falahian, during the Iranian calendar years of 1400, 1401, and 1402, associated gas collection figures stood at 1.400 million cubic meters, 8.2 million cubic meters, and 15 to 18 million cubic meters per day, respectively. 

Generally speaking, out of 40 million cubic meters of burnt associated gases per day, approximately 25 million cubic meters are being collected while burning the remaining 15 million cubic meters will be stopped up to the end of the current Iranian year, he said.

“Even though we lag behind in view of gathering associated gases schedule but we plan to collect nearly all of them at the end of next Iranian calendar year of 1404 unless 10 percent, which is needed to be burnt to secure treatment plants safety,” the official added.

He went on to say that over the last year 9 million and 1.7 million cubic meters of associated gases were collected from Aghajari and Gachsaran and Karoon and Maroon oil fields respectively on a daily basis.

According to him, in total, this year as much as 15 million cubic meters of associated gases will be collected from Naftshahr and Saadatabad oil fields as well as the remaining part of associated gases of West Karoon, Khesht, Masjid Soleimanm oil fields, plus the remaining part of the associated gases of Aghjari, Karoon and Maroon oil fields which are planned to be transmitted to NGL 1300 treatment plant.

He noted that collecting associated gases from Salaman and Aghajari and Gachsaran platforms will be carried out next year.
