TEHRAN- The 10th edition of the Islamic Revolution Art Week is set to open on Monday with numerous artistic programs being held in various locations across the country.

Organized by the Art Bureau of the Islamic Ideology Dissemination Organization, this annual event commemorates the martyrdom anniversary of documentarian Morteza Avini, who was tragically killed by a landmine in 1993 during his final trip to the former Iran-Iraq war zone in southwestern Iran while filming a documentary on missing soldiers.

Throughout the week, art exhibitions, workshops, and theatrical musical performances will be showcased.

The Islamic Revolution Art Week ceremonies will kick off on Monday at Imam Khomeini's mausoleum in southern Tehran, with the participation of artists and cultural officials.

Various ceremonies and programs will be held in multiple provinces to mark "Revolutionary Arts Day" and pay tribute to the martyred writers, culminating in the announcement of the Islamic Revolution Artist of the Year on April 15.

As part of the event, the Art Bureau will unveil a play written by Nasrollah Qaderi depicting the life of martyr Seyyed Morteza Avini.

Additionally, the Iranian Photographers' House will host an inauguration ceremony for the photo exhibition "Return," showcasing a collection of photos by Syrian photographers.

A highlight of the week will be the 183rd night of a popular humorous poetry gathering on April 14 as part of the Islamic Revolution Art Week, hosted by the Art Bureau. This poetry night is considered the oldest humorous literature gathering in Iran, which has resumed its activities in recent years after a hiatus.

The conclusion of the Islamic Revolution Art Week will feature a closing ceremony on April 15 at Tehran’s Art Bureau, which will include the announcement of the Islamic Revolution Artist of the Year, as well as recognition of significant figures and outstanding contributions in Revolutionary Arts over the past year.

In previous editions, artists such as Morteza Sarhangi, Ebrahim Hatamikia, Abdolhamid Qadirian, Mohammad Mehdi Sayyar, and Majid Majidi have been honored with the title of Islamic Revolution Artist of the Year.
