TEHRAN-The Iranian short film “Mrs. Iran's Husband” directed by Marjan Khosravi won two awards at the 38th Fribourg International Film Festival last week.

The 27-minute movie won the Best International Short Film Award and CH Cinema Network Prize at the festival, which was held in the Swiss city from March 17 to 26, Honaronline reported.

“Mrs. Iran’s Husband” is about Sultan Mohammad’s kingdom, which is on the mountain, and it includes two wives, Iran and Sara and 11 children, and his flock of sheep. Like all rulers, he strives to maintain his power and assets, but the role and duty of maintaining his prestige and power lie mainly on the shoulders of his wives. To expand his territory, he intends to marry for the third time.

The documentary has already taken home an award from Toronto’s Hot Docs Festival.

The Fribourg International Film Festival is one of the European pioneers in discovering African, Latin American and Asian cinematographies. Every year in March the festival becomes an important rendezvous for film buffs of all cultures and origins, for amateurs of classics and novelties, for auteur cinema as well as for contemporary popular productions. It pursues the objective to contribute to the cinematographic and cultural diversity in Switzerland and in Europe.

The festival aims to promote the understanding between cultures through films. It gives preferences to productions that stimulate reflection and provoke discussion. It shines a light on blind spots, reveals new talents and put the history of cinema in context with exclusive approaches.

The winner of the CH Cinema Network Prize is selected by students from Lausanne, Lugano and Zurich universities, ECAL, HEAD and ZHDK. Based on an exchange between universities, higher education establishments and filmmaking institutions, this national program combines hands-on instruction and university teaching.
