TEHRAN – More than 2.5 million passengers have been transported by 20,000 flights in the course of the Persian New Year’s holidays which started on March 14, according to the deputy transport minister.
"With measures taken in the field of intercity public transportation,” Seyyed Kamal Hadianfar noted, “we are witnessing an increase in passenger satisfaction across all transportation sectors this year.”
In an interview with CHTN, Hadianfar stated that during the spring holidays, more than 20,000 flights were operated, facilitating the transport of over 2.5 million passengers through the country's airports.
The official also pointed to the importance of selling airplane tickets during special times at approved rates, mentioning the previous recommendations to travelers to purchase round-trip tickets before starting their journey.
He further outlined that the management of the new year's travel wave has been well-handled, and measures have been devised to ensure people across the country can use public road, rail, and air transportation until Eid al-Fitr with peace of mind.
Referring to the transfer of about 10 million passengers using public transportation until March 31, Hadianfar declared that 50% of this figure, comprising over 1.44 million passengers, traveled by rail transport.
Additionally, over 2.5 million passengers were transported through airports during this period, with some using sailing vessels in ports for island trips and recreational excursions.
Addressing the Nowruz travelers, the official stressed the importance of time management for their return trips, considering the existing infrastructure capacities for both private car and public transportation users.
Hadianfar also announced plans to bolster transportation services in provinces experiencing heightened travel demand, with additional flights scheduled to accommodate the influx of travelers.
