Bank Melli Iran opens new forex branches to mark 15th of Sha'ban
Ten exchange branches of Bank Melli Iran were simultaneously opened in Isfahan, Bushehr, Ilam, Khuzestan, Sistan and Baluchestan, Kermanshah, Yazd, Khorasan Razavi, Kurdistan, and Fars provinces.
On the occasion of the holy birthday of Qa'im Al Muhammad, Imam Mahdi, a splendid celebration of the mid-Sha'ban was held in the Ferdosi conference hall of the central departments of the bank. During this event, 10 exchange branches were opened in the presence of Ayatollah Kazem Sedighi, the temporary Imam Jome of Tehran; Mohsen Rezayi, a member of the Expediency Discernment Council of the System and Secretary of the High Council of Economic Coordination of the Heads of State; Dr. Farshad Mohammadpour, the Deputy Supervisor of the Central Bank; Dr. Abolfazl Najarzadeh, the CEO of Bank Melli Iran; board members, executives, and numerous staff of the bank.
In this ceremony, Farshad Mohammadpour, Deputy Supervisor of the Central Bank, also explained the institution's policies regarding the currency market. He stated, "According to the new approach and considering the risks associated with market activities, exchange offices should possess the required capital and credit to operate. The higher their capital and risk tolerance, the more their activities expand."
He added, "The Central Bank's approach is to ensure that every bank branch across the country, particularly those in provinces lacking exchange offices, is equipped with one."
The Deputy Supervisor of the Central Bank, praising the performance of BMI in launching exchange offices in ten provinces of the country, stated: Considering the leading role of BMI in all areas, this initiative has been piloted by the bank today, and we hope that with this event, the groundwork for the presence of other banks in the country will also be provided, and gradually they will also enter this field.
It is to be said that in this ceremony held on the occasion of the mid-Sha'ban celebration, other speakers also emphasized the role of BMI in providing better currency services to the production sector and economic activists of the country.
It is to be noted that with the opening of these exchange offices in the mentioned provinces, gradually other provinces in the country are expected to witness the opening of BMI's exchange offices as well, so that all people across the country have access to the services they need from exchange offices.
