Islamic Jihad reiterates demand for Islamic independence amid Israeli aggression
TEHRAN – A prominent member of the political bureau of the Islamic Jihad has urged Muslim nations to heed the counsel of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution who in the early stages of the latest Israeli war on Gaza called on regional states to sever economic ties with the regime.
Ali Abu Shahin along with senior Hamas member Osama Hamdan were speaking at a press conference in Iran’s capital city and responding to questions from journalists, including a correspondent from the Tehran Times.
"If the proposal of Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei were to be embraced by multiple nations, it could pave the way for the region to break free from external economic dominion," stated Abu Shahin. He emphasized the prevalent lack of autonomy and freedom experienced by some countries in the region, adding that those states are unable to cut ties with Israel due to foreign constraints.
The Islamic Jihad member expressed optimism about the potential outcomes if this call to action were heeded, noting that it could significantly elevate the dignity of Muslim nations and benefit not only Palestine but the countries that decide to choose the path of independence.
“Countries in the region should take inspiration from Iran’s Islamic Revolution which made the formation of a sovereign and independent nation possible,” The Palestinian official added.
