TEHRAN - Iranian Judiciary Chief Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei has arrived in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad at the invitation of Faiq Zaidan, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Judicial Council of Iraq.

Before leaving Tehran for Baghdad, Ejei took the time to elaborate on the objectives of the trip. 

“Deepening and expanding comprehensive relations and communications with all friendly countries, especially neighbors, are among the fundamental policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran; these relations and communications encompass a diverse range of issues including political, security, economic, cultural, and judicial matters,” he told reporters.

The Judiciary Chief pointed out the extensive legal and judicial relations and communications between Iran and Iraq, saying the two countries are working to reach more comprehensive agreements in the near future. 

“Clearly, one of the issues pursued during the trip to Iraq is related to terrorism and terrorists, for which a joint committee between Iran and Iraq has been formed,” Ejei announced, saying the assassination of Iran’s anti-Iran terror Icon General Qassem Soleimani will also be brought up to the Iraqi side’s attention. 

The official also expressed Iran’s readiness to create more regional support for Palestinians in Gaza, who are being brutally massacred by the Israeli regime. “One of our goals is to take effective action against the despicable and occupying Zionist regime which has added to the volume and scope of its crimes against the oppressed and resilient people of Gaza, and we hope that we can take effective action in this regard along with other Islamic countries.”
