Thousands of pro-Palestine protesters descended on London, with hundreds of police officers on duty.

An estimated 10,000 demonstrators set off from Portland Place at noon, moving through Regent Street, Haymarket and Piccadilly, standard.co.uk reported.

People carried banners which read “end the killing” that were accompanied by harrowing images of  Israel’s bloodshed in Gaza since October 7.

Others declared “free the children”, “freedom to Palestine” and “Boycott Israel”.

The Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC) said it was the “eighth national march held for the Palestinian people over the past four months.

PSC director Ben Jamal said: “We are marching again because we know we are on the right side of history and we will stand always with the oppressed and never with the oppressor.”

Officers disrupted the march in Haymarket, where two women were arrested.

Ahead of the march, Deputy Assistant Commissioner Matt Ward, who is leading the policing operation, said: “We respect the right of people to protest, but other Londoners and visitors have rights as well.

Organizers have accused the Metropolitan Police of being "politicized and repressive".
