Iranian Navy chief pushes for collaboration with Azerbaijan
TEHRAN – In a meeting with Azerbaijan’s Defense Minister on Wednesday, Iranian Navy chief Rear Admiral Shahram Irani discussed the historical roots of Azerbaijan-Iran relations and stressed the significance of mutual visits in advancing military cooperation.
The meeting, hosted by the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry on Wednesday, saw a mutual commitment from both countries to strengthen the existing ties and collaborate on matters of mutual interest in the realm of defense and security, according to the apa.az website.
Colonel General Zakir Hasanov extended congratulations to Rear Admiral Irani on Iran’s Navy Day and underscored the deep historical ties between the two nations.
The minister highlighted the importance of fostering military collaboration for developing bilateral relations.
In response, Rear Admiral Irani expressed confidence that such meetings would positively contribute to enhancing bilateral military cooperation.
The discussions delved into the prospects of military collaboration, regional security, and various other topics. The officials hailed growing relations between Tehran and Baku and called for more cooperation between the two sides on regional and international developments.
