Iranian, Qatari FMs insist demand to end Israeli war crimes in Gaza
TEHRAN- The Israeli regime’s savage bombardment on the Gaza Strip has been discussed by the foreign ministers of Qatar and Iran, reiterating their demands for an immediate halt to the war crimes committed by the regime and the delivery of humanitarian relief to the beleaguered region.
On Tuesday, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian spoke by phone with his Qatari counterpart Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani to discuss recent developments in Palestine and the Gaza Strip.
Over the phone conversation, the two parties talked about the ongoing genocide in Gaza and the terrible humanitarian situation there, highlighting the urgent need to put an end to war crimes against the region and provide relief to Palestine’s homeless population.
They also discussed the most recent developments in diplomatic efforts and measures to halt Israel’s ruthless onslaught against Gaza.
The attack on the Qatari Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza’s offices was also addressed by the two distinguished diplomats.
On Monday during a phone conversation with his Hungarian counterpart, Péter Szijjártó, Amir Abdollahian also slammed the continued slaughter of Palestinians in the confined Gaza Strip, calling it a flagrant breach of international law.
During the call, the two senior diplomats reviewed the recent developments in the West Asia region, particularly the situation in Palestine and Israel’s genocide in Gaza.
Referring to the deteriorating humanitarian conditions in Gaza due to Israel’s “savage” crimes, Iran’s foreign minister said, “Through indiscriminate bombardment and massacre of people in the Gaza Strip, the Israeli regime has blatantly violated all norms of human rights and international law.”
Amir Abdollahian also emphasized the importance of increasing international pressure on Israel to end its assaults against the Gaza Strip, establish a truce, and send relief aid to be besieged Gazans.
On Sunday, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) sounded a stern alarm about the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, saying, “The situation in Gaza is rapidly approaching a humanitarian disaster.”
“An unbearable human tragedy is unfolding in front of our eyes. People call us day and night saying they are afraid to open their doors for fear of getting killed and pleading to help them reach safety,” said William Schomburg, head of the ICRC’s sub-delegation in Gaza.
Targeting densely populated urban areas, the ICRC expressed alarm about the regime’s actions, stating that “Israeli attacks taking place in heavily populated urban areas in the Gaza Strip, including around hospitals, endanger the lives of the most vulnerable people like medical staff, patients, the wounded, premature babies, people with disabilities, and the elderly.”
