Iranian films participating in Spanish environmental festival
TEHRAN-Six short films from Iran are present at the 30th SUNCINE International Environmental Film Festival, which was launched in Barcelona, Spain, on November 2.
The films include “Standing with the Wolf” and “The Sorrow of Forest” attending the Views section as well as “War and Color,” “Journey,” and “Line,” in the Monarca section, and “The Small Red, Big Blue” in the Reels section of the festival, ISNA reported on Saturday.
Directed by Saeed Nabi and Maryam Khadivi, “Standing with the Wolf” is a 30-minute documentary about a park ranger named Jalali who has been hit by more than 90 lead bullets. This man, who is loyal to the country’s environment, has come to the conclusion that he should teach in schools and that education is a practical weapon to preserve the environment.
With the duration of 29 minutes, “The Sorrow of Forest” directed by Maryam Razaghi, speaks of the damages to the Hyrcanian forests posed by human beings in the north of Iran. In this documentary, an old forester faces serious challenges to deal with this damage and take care of the forest and the endangered animals.
“War and Color” by Adnan Zandi is a 5-minute animation about a few children who are playing in a war-torn neighborhood when suddenly their ball is thrown towards the enemy trenches.
A six-minute animation, “Journey” by Shabnam Roshangheias centers around Dewi, a tiny dewdrop, who lives in a forest. Her dream is to travel and to see new things.
“Line” by Fardin Zarei is another short animation, running for 5 minutes, which shows the effects of the destruction and devastation of war on all works of life.
“The Small Red, Big Blue” by Hamed Nobari and Asghar Besharati is a one-minute film showing the importance of sea and fishes for all the children of world.
SUNCINE International Environmental Film Festival was first held in 1993 and is positioned as the oldest environmental film festival in the world; it is a reference in its genre.
SUNCINE is a multi-screen festival (in-person, online and televised). Its primary objective is to promote, disseminate and publicize environmental audiovisual works to raise awareness about the state of the environment, biodiversity and the planet’s sustainability.
Awarding the winners of different sections, the festival will wrap up November 10.
