TEHRAN – Mohammad Mokhber, the first-vice president of Iran, will arrive in Belarus for high-level talks with officials of the country. 

The visit will be done at the invitation of the Belarusian prime minister. 

“Meeting with the President, Prime Minister and Speaker of the Parliament of Belarus as well as holding bilateral dialogue sessions between the high-level delegations of the two countries are on the agenda of the trip,” Mohammad Jamshidi, a political aide to the Iranian president, said, according to IRNA.

He added, “The bilateral meetings of the presidents on the sidelines of regional and international summits, as well as Mr. Lukashenko's trip to Tehran in March of last year, indicate the readiness for comprehensive development of economic relations, which can lead to important agreements for the two countries in the upcoming trip.”

Jamshidi said Mokhber will be accompanied by a number of ministers and other officials during his trip to Belarus. 

“The sanctions policy of Western countries against independent countries requires that more commonality and more bilateral solutions be established to overcome the oppressive sanctions of Western countries. This important issue is seriously on the agenda of Iranian statesmen during this trip,” he continued. 

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko paid a visit to Irani in March and met his Iranian counterpart Ebrahim Raisi. 

They signed eight agreements on trade, mining and transportation, among other things.

“Today we achieved an agreement on a comprehensive roadmap between Iran and Belarus,” Raisi said during a joint conference with Lukashenko following the talks, according to Al Jazeera. 
“This comprehensive roadmap between Iran and Belarus outlines political and economic conditions and encompasses all areas of interest between the two countries.”

Lukashenko also met with the Leader of the Islamic Revolution of Iran Seyed Ali Khamenei. “Countries that are sanctioned by the U.S. must work together and form a joint collective to destroy the weapon of sanctions, and we believe this is doable,” the Leader told Lukashenko.
