Export from Golestan province rises 35% in 7 months yr/yr
TEHRAN- The value of export from Golestan province, in the northeast of Iran, rose 35 percent in the first seven months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21-October 22), as compared to the same period of time in the past year, a provincial official announced.
Ebrahim Hosseini, the director-general of the province’s customs department, said that commodities worth $121.9 million were exported from the province in the said seven-month period.
He named polystyrene, cheese, iodine, all kinds of iron pipes and profiles, dates, pressed board, copper wire, metal structure and tomato paste as the major exported products and Turkmenistan, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Afghanistan, Romania, Bulgaria, Armenia, Uzbekistan, Russia and Poland as the main export destinations.
The official further announced that commodities worth $23 million were imported to the province in the first seven months of the present year, showing 25 percent fall year on year.
He named crude soybean oil, fabrics, diesel generators, foots oil and cotton lanterns as the major imported items and Turkmenistan, China, Turkey, England, India, UAE, Kazakhstan, Vietnam, Tajikistan, Italy, Denmark, Germany, Uzbekistan, Iraq and Spain as the main sources of imports in the mentioned seven months.
As previously announced by the official, the value of export from Golestan province rose 63 percent in the past Iranian calendar year 1400 (ended on March 20), from its preceding year.
Hosseini said that over 402,000 tons of commodities worth $183.6 million were exported from the province in the previous year, indicating also 51 percent growth in terms of weight.
He named polystyrene, dairy products, dates, pistachios, cement, ceramic and tiles, and tomato paste as the major exported products, and Kazakhstan, Iraq, Turkmenistan, Bulgaria, Afghanistan and Romania as the main export destinations.
