TEHRAN – Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi on Sunday expressed deep regret over a deadly tsunami in Indonesia’s Sunda Strait, which has so far killed dozens of people and left many others missing and homeless.
In a statement, Qassemi offered Iran’s sympathy to the Indonesian nation, government, and the bereaved families over the tragic incident, the Foreign Ministry website reported.
More than 220 people have been killed and 843 injured after a tsunami hit coastal towns on Indonesia's Sunda Strait at about 21:30 local time (14:30GMT), during a local holiday. Hundreds of buildings were also destroyed in the incident.
