Iran B runners-up at William Jones Cup
TEHRAN – Iran B basketball team finished in second place in the 40th William Jones Cup on Sunday at the Xinzhuang Gymnasium in Taiwan.
The Iranian team defeated Ateneo-Philippines 63-70.
Vahid Dalirzahan torched the Philippines with 26 points including seven three-pointers while Rasoul Mozafari poured in 16 markers.
Matt Nieto topped for Ateneo with 14 points and three assists while Thirdy Ravena contributed 12 points, three rebounds, and three dimes.
3D Global Sports from Canada won the title.
Iran B defeated LSU-Atletas from Lithuania 76–48, Japan B 78–61, Chinese Taipei Blue 87-75, South Korea 80-69, Chinese Taipei White 102–56, Indonesia 66-62 and Ateneo-Philippines 63-70 and lost to 3D Global Sports 77-67.
The tournament was held from July 14 to 22 with participation of 11 teams in single round robin format.
