TEHRAN – Amri Jafari, commander of the tactical air defense unit of Khatam al-Anbiya Air Defense Base, said on Monday that missile and radar systems have been stationed near Iran’s border with Iraq to safeguard Arbaeen pilgrims.
All ingoing and outgoing flights are examined thoroughly during Arbaeen rituals to secure the area’s airways, Jafari said, Mehr news agency reported.
More than two million Iranian nationals are expected to travel to Iraq to attend the Arbaeen ritual.
Jafari also said that 1400 commercial flights pass through Iran’s airways.
