Iran in contact with Bangladesh, Myanmar over Rohingya plight

TEHRAN – Deputy Foreign Minister for the Asian and Oceania Affairs Ebrahim Rahimpour said on Friday that the foreign ministry is in contact with governments of Bangladesh and Myanmar over the plight of the Rohingya Muslims.
In an interview with IRIB news, Rahimpour said Iran has sent aid shipments to Bangladesh to help the displaced people of Myanmar.
He also said the country’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif will follow up on the issue in his upcoming visit to New York for this year’s annual session of the UN General Assembly.
