TEHRAN – Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has pardoned and commuted sentences against 1166 inmates, the Leader’s website reported on Wednesday.

Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani, the Judiciary chief, had made the plea on the occasion of Eid al-Adha and Eid al-Ghadir.

Article 110 of the Constitution grants the Supreme Leader the right to pardon or reduce the sentences of convicts upon a recommendation from the head of the Judiciary.
