Tehran police confiscate 1600 kg of narcotics

TEHRAN – Police in the Iranian capital Tehran have busted an international smuggling ring, seizing 1600 kilograms of illegal drugs, the Tehran police chief said on Sunday.
The international smuggling gang consisted of six people who used to transfer the drugs from the Iranian border areas into the country, Brigadier General Hossein Rahimi told reporters, ILNA reported.
Rahimi went on to say that five members of the ring were arrested and one of them managed to flee the country.
Some 200 drug dealers were also taken into custody in Tehran on Saturday.
