Freestyler Hassan Rahimi undergoes knee surgery

Hassan Rahimi, the bronze medalist in Rio, underwent surgery on his right knee on Tuesday.

The 57kg freestyler, who had surgery in Tehran’s Treata Hospital, needs to rest one month for recovery, according to his doctor.

Rahimi had already missed the Baku 2017 Islamic Solidarity Games due to the injury.

He had undergone an MRI, revealing a torn meniscus in his right knee.

Rahimi defeated Yowlys Bonne from Cuba to take bronze in the 2016 Summer Olympics.

He has also won a gold medal at the 2013 World Wrestling Championships in Budapest, Hungary.
