“Track 143” director Narges Abyar on Pune festival jury

TEHRAN – Narges Abyar, the director of acclaimed drama “Track 143”, has been selected for the jury of the 15th Pune International Film Festival, which will be running from January 12 to 19. 

Goran Paskaljevic from Serbia, Jorge Arriagada from Chile, Bennett Rathnayake from Sri Lanka, Jerzy Stuhr from Poland, and Jens Fischer and Pablo S. Naranjo Golborne both from Sweden are also on the panel.

Aparna Sen, Gowri Ramnarayan and Yusuf Mehta, all from India, are other members of the jury.

A lineup of 14 Iranian films will also go on screen in different sections of the festival. 

“Breath” by Narges Abyar will be screened in the films by the jury section. 

“360 Degree” by Sam Qaribian, “I” by Soheil Beiraqi, “The Sis” by Marjan Ashrafizadeh, “Identity” by Behruz Sabet Rasul and “The Salesman” by Asghar Farhadi will be competing in the Global Cinema section.

The section also will screen “Malaria” by Parviz Shahbazi, “Duet” by Navid Danesh, “Valderama” by Abbas Amini, “Parting” by Navid Mahmudi and “Lanturi” by Reza Dormishian. 

In the Social Awareness section, “Daughter” by Reza Mirkarimi will go on screen. “A Long Day” by Babak Bahrambeigi will be shown in the Asian Cinema section.

The organizers will also pay tribute to the late filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami by screening his film “Close-Up”.
