TEHRAN – Iran and Armenia signed two memorandums of understanding to expand cooperation in the areas related to tourism and museum, Mehr news agency reported.

An MOU was signed by Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts Organization Director Zahra Ahmadipour and Armenian Minister of Culture Armen Amirian in the presence of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and his Armenian counterpart Serzh Sargsyan in Yerevan on Wednesday.

Holding scientific conferences and joint exhibits, exchanging experts, information and know-how on museum-related affaires and the conservation of historic relics were among the items of agreement reached between the National Museum of Iran and the History Museum of Armenia.

Ahmadipour inked another MOU with Armenian Minister of Economic Development and Investments Suren Karayan on the expansion of tourism ties and construction of hotels.

Meanwhile, Rouhani and Sargsyan welcomed the idea of visa-free regime between the two countries which can help promote bilateral economic and investment projects.

In June, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Armenian counterpart Edward Nalbandian signed an MOU in Tehran for lifting visa regime.
