“Parting” actress wins best award at Marrakesh International Film Festival
TEHRAN – Fereshteh Hosseini, the actress of “Parting”, a joint production of Iran and Afghanistan by Navid Mahmudi, has won the best actress award at the 16th Marrakesh International Film Festival.
She received the prize during the closing ceremony held in Rabat on December 10, the organizers have announced on the website.
“Parting” is about teenage lovers Nabi and Fereshteh who are separated by her family’s flight from Afghanistan. After years apart, Nabi decides to find Fereshteh and risk the hardship of flight and resettlement in Europe with a hope of a better life.
The movie has been produced by Mahmudi’s brother, Jamshid.
“Parting” was the opening movie of the 21st International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) in India. It also received the jury’s special mention in the New Currents section of the 21st Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), which was held in October.
The Marrakesh International Film Festival opened on December 2 with a tribute to the late Iranian filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami as his son, Ahmad Kiarostami, was a guest of the event.
