TEHRAN – The Iranian defense minister has hailed Iran as “messenger of peace” in the sweep of history, IRNA reported on Saturday. 

“As an Islamic and civilized country, Iran has been the messenger of peace and friendship all over its honorable history,” Hossein Dehqan said in a message to the Iranian Army Volleyball Team. 

The team will be attending the 35th World Military Men's Volleyball championship in Tehran, due to start on September 11. 
Twelve teams will be partaking in the event.
