Head of Iran Wrestling Federation Rasoul Khadem said the Freestyle World Cup was a good preparation for their wrestlers to know their opponents.
Iran national wrestling team claimed the Freestyle World Cup for fifth successive year on Monday.
In the gold medal match Iran topped Russia five matches to three at The Forum, Inglewood, California.
“Fifty days prior to the Olympic Games the most important thing is to get to know the opponents and the techniques and I think the competition was a good preparation for our wrestlers,” Khadem said.
“The event showed us where we are. I have no regret about fielding our Olympian wrestlers in the competition since I believe that the World Cup is a good opportunity to test our members,” he added.
