Kamkars to team up with London orchestra, choir for charity concert

TEHRAN -- The Kamkars, Iran‘s leading Kurdish family music ensemble, will team up with two music groups in London to give a charity concert, which will raise funds for children displaced by war in Syria and Iraq.
The Docklands Sinfonia and London Contemporary Voices, a leading non-traditional choir, will accompany the Kamkars during the concert, which will be performed at the Barbican Centre in London on June 19, the center has announced.
A repertoire of orchestral works, new pieces and traditional Kurdish music has been prepared for the performance.
Hushang Kamkar has composed the orchestral pieces and Spencer Down will conduct the concert, which will feature vocalist Saba Kamkar.
The performance will also feature a new piece by Mehran Rohani, which will be sung by his daughter, Honey Rohani.
