35 countries to attend Silk Road meeting in Urmia

TEHRAN – Representatives from 35 countries will attend the 6th Silk Road Task Force Meeting of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), which will be held in Iran’s northwestern city of Urmia from April 22 to 25.

Cultural heritage and tourism will be the main topics of discussion during the meeting, the IRNA news agency reported.

On the sidelines of the meeting, workshops will be held to promote cooperation between the countries, he said.

The UNWTO Silk Road Program is a collaborative initiative designed to enhance sustainable tourism development along the historic Silk Road route.

It aims to maximize the benefits of tourism development for local Silk Road communities, while stimulating investment and promoting the conservation of the route’s natural and cultural heritage.
