TEHRAN - According to Bulgarian Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov, for Bulgarian goods to find their way into more markets, Iran can potentially be a gateway, the Mehr news agency reported on Tuesday.

Mitov made the remarks in his meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Mahammad Javad Zarif in Tehran on December 21, referring to energy cooperation and the development of transport corridors as a starting point for bilateral economic collaboration.

One of these transit corridors will link Bulgaria, Georgia, Azerbaijan (or Armenia) and Iran once built, an issue Mitov said has been a theme of his talks with Iranian officials.

Also, in the session, Zarif, for his part, asserted that there are multiple areas of possible collaboration, including transit, industry, trade, energy corridors, and tourism.

Inquired about the holding of a joint economic commission, Zarif said two sides have already sat together two times to exchange ideas on the commission.

In addition to Zarif, Mitov held talks with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, and some other ministers, including Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Ali Jannati and Iranian Transport and Urban Development Minister Abbas Akhoundi in his two-day visit to Iran.
