TEHRAN - Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said the European Union will lift sanctions against Iran on Sunday, as announced by EU deputy foreign policy chief Helga Schmid during the Munich Security Conference (MSC) in Tehran.

“In today’s meeting of Munich Security Conference, European Union deputy foreign policy chief Helga Schmid noted that the European Union will lift its sanctions against Iran on Sunday,” Araqchi stated.

Schmid also stressed that Iran’s missile tests have nothing to do with the nuclear deal, officially known as the JCPOA, and must be discussed within their own related framework, Araqchi added.

In response to a question on U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry’s recent remarks about the reversibility of sanctions against Iran, Araqchi stressed that such reversibility is true for both sides.

He stated, “If the other side does not comply with its commitments, Iran too will step back from its commitments,” he said.

Araqchi also denounced Kerry’s remarks on the perpetual inspection of Iran’s nuclear activities as mere ""wordplay"".
