Iran, Bulgaria keen on expanding bilateral ties

TEHRAN - Alaeddin Boroujerdi, chairman of the Majlis Foreign Policy and National Security Committee, has called for improvement of ties with Bulgaria.

During a meeting with Bulgarian Deputy Foreign Minister Valentin Poriazov in Tehran on Sunday, Boroujerdi said the improvement of cooperation between Iran and Bulgaria will help stabilize the Middle East region.


He slammed the Western approach dividing terrorism into two types of good and bad.

On reginal crises, he said killing innocent people is the nature of all the terrorist groups.

He also condemned financial supports provided by the U.S. and its allies to terrorist groups.


The Bulgarian official, for his part, highlighted the importance of Iran’s status in the region.

Poriazov also said that the terrorist groups pose threats against the whole world.

-----Bulgarian FM to visit Iran

In a separate meeting with Majid Takht-Ravanchi, Iranian deputy foreign minister, on Monday, Poriazov said that Bulgarian Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov plans to visit Iran in near future.

He called for the expansion of relations between the two countries.

He also congratulated Iran over the nuclear conclusion with the 5+1 group (the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany).

Takht-Ravanchi said that Iran is ready to expand ties with Bulgaria.

He attached great importance to the expansion of economic ties between the two countries.
