Iran drafts National Document on Environment

TEHRAN - Head of the Department of Environment of Iran Masoumeh Ebtekar has said her department has drafted a document to devise strategies for protection of environment.
The text dubbed the National Document on Environment has been now referred to the Supreme Council for Cultural Revolution, Ebtekar said, Arya news agency reported on Friday.She said the document defines various strategies for relevant organizations to better cooperate with the department of environment.
It also involves cultural measures for promoting environmental awareness, she said.
Approaches to preserve wetlands, forests, and biodiversity are among the major topics addressed in the National Document on Environment, Ebtekar noted.
She said the document assigns a special role to local non-governmental organizations for tackling environmental problems.
