Iran considers ties with Africa ‘strategic’: diplomat

TEHRAN – Iran’s deputy foreign minister for Arab and African affairs has said that Tehran considers relations with Africa as “strategic” and “significant”.

Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said that Iran has always been prioritizing a strengthening of ties with Africa, ILNA reported on Sunday.

The Iranian government has adopted the policy of having “strategic view” on Africa in bilateral and international relations, the Foreign Ministry official added.

Amir-Abdollahian also stated that relation between Iran and Africa is “growing” in various areas.

Elsewhere in his remarks, he stated that terrorism and extremism are common concerns of Africa and other countries in the world and it is necessary to cooperate in fight against terrorism.
