100 hooligans arrested in Tehran

TEHRAN -- Tehran police chief Hossein Sajedinia announced on Tuesday that more than 100 hooligans were arrested in Tehran in a special operation on Monday.
Talking to reporters, he said that a “neighborhood-based security plan” was started in Tehran from first of Aban (Oct. 23).Sajedinia noted that first phase of the operation was implemented to arrest thieves, pickpockets and burglars, adding many criminals have been arrested this week.
The police chief added that the second phase of the plan aiming to fight against hooligans and those who harass others, started two days ago.
He noted that hooligans were identified by police and arrested on orders of judicial authorities.
He went on to say that during this operation 94 men and six women were arrested Monday night, and nine firearms, several stolen motorcycles, alcoholic drinks, and cold weapons were seized.
4,580 grams of synthetic drug was also seized and seven men and four women were arrested in this regard, he explained.
Sajedinia noted that 400 other suspects have been identified and these people will be arrested in Tehran during upcoming days.
On the order of judicial authorities, police has expressed its readiness to display the hooligans in the neighborhood to be a lesson for others, he added.
He noted that the arrested hoodlums are between 19 to 30 years old.
The official uttered that police implements criminal control plan in which all of the arrested hooligans are obliged to report to police on a weekly basis and their activities are observed carefully.
All of the hoodlums who have been arrested through different operations have ID cards and are controlled by police, he stated.
Sajedinia hoped the feeling of security will be increased among Tehrani residents by implementing these plans
