TEHRAN – Iran’s ambassador to London, Rasoul Movahhedian, has said that the role of regional countries in resolving the crisis in Afghanistan has been ignored in the London conference which starts on Thursday.

“The most important issue that has been ignored in the London conference … is the unique role of regional states in resolving the crisis in Afghanistan,” he said in an interview with IRNA published on Wednesday.
Afghanistan’s neighbors have suffered most from the increased production of drugs and terrorism in Afghanistan, thus, they are more motivated than any other nation to settle the situation in Afghanistan, Movahhedian explained.
The ambassador also stated that the situation in Afghanistan has degenerated from worse to worst since the country was occupied in 2011 and the production of drugs has increased to its highest level.
Despite this the occupiers have so far failed to offer a concrete plan to settle the situation, he lamented.
Considering the current situation, holding such a conference is only aimed to justify the presence of foreign forces in Afghanistan, he noted.
Movahhedian noted that London is also trying to placate the Britons who have lost their patience over the presence of the country’s soldiers in the war-torn Central Asian state
