TEHRAN -- President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran and his Mauritanian counterpart Mohammad Ould Abdel Aziz have called for the expansion of cooperation between the two countries.

During a meeting here on Monday, Ahmadinejad said, “We believe Iran and Mauritania are two brothers that are taking steps in a united path.”
The two presidents also stressed the need to increase regional and international cooperation to fight the hegemonic system of domination adopted by certain countries.
Ahmadinejad said the enemy has imposed several wars against the regional nations under different pretexts, citing poverty and underdevelopment in many Islamic nations as the consequences of these wars.
The unfair global system should change as hegemonic powers have monopolized everything for themselves with the aim to hinder the progress of other countries, he observed.
The president was referring to attempts by certain powers that are trying to prevent other countries from mastering modern technologies.
Ahmadinejad called on independent countries to work together to help overthrow the domineering system in the world.
Elsewhere in his remarks, he praised Mauritania for severing ties with the Zionist regime, saying the measure should serve as a model for other countries.
These measures irritate Israel as it tries to show it has a normal relationship with the Islamic world, he added.
Mohammad Ould Abdel Aziz also said that Mauritania and Iran share similar views on many regional and international issues, adding Nouakchott and Tehran should expand cooperation in line with the interests of their two nations, the region and the Islamic world.
He went on to say the United Nations, the Security Council and other international organizations are monopolized by certain countries, which misuse their power.
Iran and Mauritania can develop constructive cooperation to help end tyranny in the world, he suggested.
He also said that Nouakchott is fully ready to develop cooperation with Tehran on issues pertaining to the region, the Arab countries and the whole Islamic world.
The two countries should make efforts to encourage other countries to join this cooperation, he added
