President says no retreat from revolutionary principles under pressure

TEHRAN - “If some imagine that through slander, impoliteness, insult, and propagating lies will coerce us into departing from our revolutionary ideals, they are strongly mistaken,” President Ahmadinejad said on Friday.

“We have prepared ourselves for tolerating all pressures,” the president said in a in a fast-breaking meeting with sacred defense combatants from Kordestan and Western Azarbajan provinces.
He added that the Islamic Revolution is a movement and long stride in continuation of the holy prophet’s movement. The revolution was in many ways similar to the Ashura movement by Imam Hussein (AS).
Ahmadinejad pointed out that the victory of Islamic revolution drastically changed the thinking, ethical and cultural foundation of the society and redefined the lofty humanistic and divine values.
Revolution occurred to make the international community familiar with late Imam khomeini and his thoughts and abolish values promoted by the despotic shah regime.
He predicted that as the revolution goes ahead it faces harder and more complicated issues. “We should brace ourselves for more intricate plots.”
Thanks to God today the country is standing in a better position and in the recent election the nation made a significant advancement towards ideals.
He reckoned the revolution as a live and dynamic movement, adding some who failed to keep level with the revolutionary movement, instead of trying to make up for their failure and catching up, tried to hinder it.
He emphasized the necessity for the recognition of illuminating role of Imams in order to find the right direction and not to go astray.
