Iran, Russia to bolster parliamentary cooperation

TEHRAN (IRNA) -- Russian Vice-Speaker of State Duma Valery Vazev conferred on Tuesday with Head of Iran-Russia Parliamentary Friendship Group Mehdi Sanaei on expansion of parliamentary cooperation between the two countries.
The Russian envoy is in Tehran to attend the executive council of Asian Parliaments which is to kick off here.Russia attaches importance to expansion of ties with Iran, said the Russian envoy, adding that his country is to broaden regional cooperation with Iran and prepare the ground for Tehran to play an active role to this effect.
The two sides' parliaments through their friendship group can bolster bilateral cooperation, he said.
For his part, Sanaei said expansion of relations between Iran and Russia is of prime importance, adding that the grounds for expansion of regional cooperation between the two sides have been prepared.
Iranian Majlis is now preparing grounds to help broaden scope of mutual parliamentary cooperation at international level, he underlined.
