ISLAMABAD (APP) --- The PML-Q nominated presidential candidate Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayyed on Tuesday called for convening an international Human Rights conference on Kashmir to highlight the Human Rights violations by the Indian army.

Speaking at a conference on ‘Perspective approaches of the prevailing Kashmir imbroglio’ in Islamabad he said that representatives of NGOs, civil society organizations, opinion leaders and parliamentarians with Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch should be invited in the conference to highlight the Kashmir cause and expose Indian oppression of human rights in held Kashmir.
He said that an Action Group of Muslim leaders of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Turkey and Senegal should be set up to meet UN Secretary General, new U.S. President and European Union leaders for settlement of Kashmir issue.
Mushahid proposed dialogue at three levels -- Intra-Kashmir dialogue, Pakistan-India and Tripartite dialogue including Pakistan, India and Kashmiri representatives for resolution of Kashmir issue.
He said that All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) should be recognized as the legitimate representative of Kashmiri people, like Palestine Liberation Organization(PLO).
Mushahid called for delinking Kashmir and Palestine issues from the so-called “War on Terror” as these are issues of self-determination and popular aspirations and not terrorism.
The time has proved that use of force has not resolved the issues of Palestine, Iraq, Afghanistan, Kashmir and Intifada, he said and added that the international community should realize that if there is no peace in Middle East without settlement of Palestine issue, there will be no peace in South Asia without resolution of Kashmir dispute.
He said despite the peace process between India and Pakistan, there is no let up in repression in held Kashmir, which leads to resistance. He added that Kashmir insurgency remains popular, indigenous, spontaneous and widespread.
Later talking to newsmen, Mushahid Hussain Sayyed said that” We need only such leadership for Pakistan that can inspire the nation,” adding that our campaign for presidential election is issue-based and we are fighting for survival of Pakistan.”
He said the people of Pakistan are politically more aware and they know who should be their leader.
About withdrawal from the presidential race, he said “ We will stay and fight till the end. He said that there should be harmony between the armed forces and political forces in the country.
He said that the office of President has to provide inter-provincial harmony but it seems that we are heading towards the 1990s like situation.
Mushahid challenged Asif Ali Zardari on a TV talk so that the people of Pakistan could know the vision of Presidential candidates.
He said, “I have declared my assets and Asif Ali Zardari should also do it.”
About contacts of PML-Q members with Zardari, he said that there is no harm in meetings and dialogue. All the MPs will cast their vote according to their conscience.
He expressed concern over use of government resources for Presidential campaign of Asif Ali Zardari as he (Zardari) has no government office, however, he added that he is not afraid of such tactics.
He said that the President of Pakistan should have a vision about Kashmir as it is the issue of humanity.
He said that Asif Ali Zardari should explain his position about the news of his health published in foreign press.
About NRO, Mushahid said that “it is a gift by former president Pervez Musharraf to Zardari and he (Zardari) should be thankful to him.”
About role of army and USA in national politics, he said, “let the people of Pakistan decide. We don’t need any NOC from the GHQ and White House, he added.” -
