Guardian Council rules out electronic voting

TEHRAN -- Abbas-Ali Kadkhodaii here on Saturday said that the Guardian Council has rejected Interior Ministry's suggestion for electronic voting.

The GC spokesman added that the council agrees with Interior Ministry on the necessity of using electronic voting systems, but the technical and legal preparations are yet to be made.
“The Interior Ministry has not yet presented the required software for the electronic voting to the Guardian Council,"" He explained.
He added that if electronic voting machines are to be used “the necessary manpower and infrastructure must be provided.""
Kadkhodaii who is a senior member of the central committee for supervising parliamentary elections also said the necessary amendments to the election law have not been made.
