TEHRAN (Fars News Agency) -- Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinejad in a phone conversation with Nicaraguan President-elect Daniel Ortega on Sunday stressed that the era of the hegemony and bullying of imperialist powers has come to an end.

A statement released by the Presidential Press Office said that also during the phone talk, Ahmadinejad extended his congratulations to Ortega on his election as Nicaragua's president.

He said that imperialist powers can no longer exercise their hegemony over independent and brave nations, reiterating that today the time has arrived for the vigilance and sovereignty of free nations and establishment of justice and spirituality.

Ahmadinejad assured that the Iranian nation and government will always side with the free and revolutionary nations of the world, specially Nicaragua, and voiced Tehran's preparedness to transfer its valuable experiences and achievements to the Latin state.

For his part, Nicaragua's President-elect, Daniel Ortega appreciated the Iranian president's congratulations, and said that Latin nations, including his country, have opted for the path of progress.

To end his remarks, he assured that his people, along with the other free and independent nations, will strive to establish peace, justice and spirituality in the world.
