Zenit fans drive 15,000km to watch team play
The fans drove from St. Petersburg to the eastern port city of Vladivostok on the shores of the Sea of Japan in their old Honda to see Zenit take on local side Luch-Energiya last month. Zenit won the league match 2-0.
However, the trio had to leave their 1986 Honda Civic behind and take a train back to Russia's second city because their vehicle was not up to making the return journey.
Zenit said on their website that the club presented the fans with a new Toyota Corolla at Sunday's home match against Spartak Nalchik.
"We were all shocked by such a nice gesture by the club, local media quoted one of the fans as saying. "We haven't decided what to do with the car or who will own it but one thing is for sure -- we'll paint it in the colors of the club, so when we'll drive it around the city all Zenit fans can easily identify it."
