Leader appoints Kharrazi as chairman of Strategic Council for Foreign Relations

TEHRAN -- Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei issued a decree here on Sunday establishing the Strategic Council for Foreign Relations and appointed Kamal Kharrazi as its chairman.

Ayatollah Khamenei has tasked the former foreign minister with setting up the council to assist in making major decisions and to seek new horizons in Iran’s foreign relations.

Ali Akbar Velayati, Ali Shamkhani, Mohammad Shariatmadari, and Mohammad-Hossein Taromi were appointed by the Leader to serve on the council for five-year terms.
