TEHRAN – Development of the desalination units three and six in Marun region by the National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC) will result in doubling the refining capacity of ‘salty’ crude currently standing at 55,000 bpd, the Persian service of PIN (Petroenergy Information Network) reported on Saturday.
According to Ali Mohammad Javadi, the executive director of Marun Oil and Gas Company, the project on unit six started in the form of EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) at the estimated cost of 60 billion rials just recently. Moreover, preliminary studies on unit three are near completion and installation of a pre-heating unit as well as electrical desalination equipment will follow suit immediately, he added.
Marun Oil and Gas Field holds five desalination units and the development plans are to increase both production capacity and refining standards by upgrading units three and six, he said in conclusion.
