TEHRAN – A selection of the historical petroglyphs of Teymareh, a site renowned for its rich collection of rock carvings, has been put on show at the 16th Iran Stone Expo.

According to organizers, the event, which is the largest stone exhibition in Iran, brings together leading figures in the stone industry, including miners from 22 provinces, as well as some diplomats, traders, and business delegations from various countries.

Mehdi L’albar, head of the Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts Office in Mahallat, announced the inclusion of Teymareh’s petroglyphs in the exhibition, with a dedicated booth showcasing both original and replica carvings from the Teymareh region of Khomein.

“These petroglyphs, some of which are more than 40,000 years old, offer a unique glimpse into the ancient history and art of the region,” L’albar said.

He emphasized the significance of these carvings in attracting tourists and showcasing the cultural heritage of Teymareh, a site spanning Markazi, Isfahan, and Lorestan provinces.

The Teymareh petroglyphs feature intricate depictions of human and animal life, chronicling the evolution of human civilization over millennia. With over 21,000 rock carvings discovered in the area, they are among the most important archaeological finds in Iran.

The Iran Stone Expo, which serves as a major platform for the stone industry, continues until October 11. It is expected to draw large crowds, including international visitors, eager to explore both Iran’s natural stone resources and its deep-rooted cultural heritage.

Held in Nimvar, a city in Mahallat county, this year’s exhibition highlights the fusion of history, culture, and industry, with the Teymareh petroglyphs serving as a powerful reminder of Iran’s ancient past.
